About the Event

This is a unique opportunity to explore the creative expressions of Military, Veterans, and their families as  they share their personal journeys and the impact of military service on their lives.  

To participate in the exhibit, each artist must be a current or past member of the U.S. Armed Forces, the  reserve corps of the U.S. Armed Forces, the national guard, or a family member affected by their loved  ones service. 

This will be an exhibit of the art with accompanying words written by the artist.  

We will showcase visual art ranging from 2D works, 3D works, and sculpture.  For 2D works the maximum size is 20" h x 30" w  For 3D works, it needs to be easily moveable and fit on a pedestal. Sculptures may not exceed 36 inches in  height and no more than 40 lbs.  Photos of work or any art related questions can be sent to:  Omar Columbus @ omarcolumbus@gmail.com

Omar Columbus is the curator and an Air Force Veteran. Omar is an artist, advocate, curator, and an Air Force Veteran, and a participant of  Mil-Tree. A native of North Carolina, now living in Rancho Mirage, Ca. he enlisted after high school and served for 12 years on active duty.  An Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom Veteran seeking healing and comfort from post-traumatic stress, his poetry and  photography have become his creative outlets. He has also been performing his poetry around California with an organization called  Veterans Art Project (VETART) . Omar was recently chosen by an organization called Americans for the Arts, to be flown into Washington  D.C. and advocate before congress for funding for Veteran arts programs here in the Coachella Valley.
