Project Director

(Part-Time)
Hours: 15-20 hours per week
Compensation: $45 per hour

Position Overview

The Project Director provides strategic leadership for the organization in collaboration with the Board of Directors.This is an opportunity to grow this existing organization while gaining valuable experience in the non-profit sector. This role oversees daily operations, manages finances, and ensures that all programs and activities align with the organization’s mission and values.  

 

Key Responsibilities include:

 

Administration:

• Ensure organizational compliance with all legal and ethical standards

• Oversee program development, implementation, and evaluation

• Set strategic direction in partnership with the Board 

• Manage day-to-day operations

• Develop, implement, and monitor organizational and project budgets

Development/ Fundraising: 

• Write and manage grants to support program and operational goals

• Lead fundraising and resource development efforts

Outreach: 

• Serve as the public face and spokesperson for the organization, representing its mission to the community

• Lead direct marketing, communications, and public relations efforts 

• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with donors, partners, and community stakeholders

• Promote Mil-Tree’s programs throughout the surrounding communities 

• Maintain a database of contacts, partners, and outreach activities

 

 

Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications

• Respect and support active-duty and veteran service members

• Ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultural, racial, religious, gender, age, and ability backgrounds

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small team

• Proficiency with QuickBooks, Google Suite, and Microsoft Excel

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

• Veteran status or strong familiarity with the military and veteran community

• Experience planning and executing outreach or marketing campaigns

• Confidence in public speaking and community engagement

• Demonstrated experience in nonprofit management, grant writing, and program development

• Knowledge of public relations and community partnership best practices

• Strong organizational and data management skills

• Outgoing personality with the ability to build and maintain lasting relationships

• Strong leadership skills

• Morongo Basin resident

 

Some evening and weekend work is required around events and programming. There will be a performance review after 3 months with the board of directors.
