About the Event
We are pleased to announce our 2nd series of singer/songwriter workshops. These workshops are provided to Veterans and community members FREE from our grant through the California Arts Council. No experience needed.
This is a 3 day event and your participation will be required all 3 days. Each day of the event will bring you towards the final end of the workshop with a song created by all participants. There will be an intimate performance held on Sunday at the commencement of the workshop where you may invite special person(s) to attend.
Schedule is as follows:
Friday July 12th 6-9pm
Saturday July 13th 11-5pm
Sunday July 14th 11-4pm (Performance following)
After the final series of workshops there will be public performance on September 29th, 2024 at the Joshua Tree Retreat Center.
About the Artist:
Ted (Teddy) Quinn, a performer, writer, actor, who has been writing songs for over 50 years, moved to Joshua Tree in the early 90s to work with Rancho de la Luna founder Fred Drake. He has recorded over a dozen albums of his original songs, was the recipient of the Basinwide Foundation Award for Cultural Contributions in 2011, served as creative director of Radio Free Joshua Tree, a writer for Artbound (KCET), host of Pappy & Harriet's legendary Open Mic night for close to a decade. Quinn has worked with Mil-Tree as a presenter and workshop facilitator since its inception. More recently, Quinn has devoted his energy to painting and writing, and as curator and cultural activist at the Beatnik Lounge, winner of the 2023 Joshua Award for Community Spirit.
